Arriving at Mykonos Airport in 2027: What to Expect

Mykonos Airport (JMK) is small, friendly and only a few minutes from Mykonos Town. But in high season it gets busy, and a little planning makes the difference between a calm arrival and a long wait in the sun. Here is what to expect when you land.
A small airport with a big summer
Mykonos Airport has one terminal and a single arrivals hall. Out of season it is quiet, but from June to September many international flights land within the same few hours, especially in the afternoon and evening. Baggage can take a while, and the area outside arrivals fills up quickly.
Getting from the airport to your hotel or villa
The airport is in the middle of the island, so most areas are 10 to 25 minutes away. Your options are:
- Taxi. There is a rank outside arrivals, but Mykonos has very few licensed taxis for the number of visitors. In peak season, queues can be long.
- Bus. Buses run on some routes, but not to every hotel or villa, and are not ideal with luggage.
- Rental car. Possible, but parking in town and at the popular beaches is very limited in summer.
- Private transfer. Your driver waits outside arrivals with a sign with your name and takes you straight to your door.
Late-night arrivals
Many flights land late in the evening, when taxis are hardest to find. If your flight arrives after dark, booking a transfer in advance means you are not left waiting. We track every flight, so if yours is delayed, your driver adjusts the pickup.
Travelling with lots of luggage or a group?
Golf bags, prams, surfboards and several large suitcases do not fit in a standard taxi. For families and groups, a Mercedes Vito or V-Class takes up to eight guests with luggage, and a Mercedes Sprinter takes up to twenty, so everyone travels together.
Five tips for a smooth arrival
- Share your flight number when you book your transfer.
- Send the exact location of your villa; many have no street number.
- Keep your phone on after landing; we send your driver's details before you arrive.
- Tell us about children, so we can fit child seats.
- Book your return transfer too, and allow extra time in July and August.
