Mykonos Cruise Port Guide 2027: How to Spend Your Day Ashore

Mykonos is one of the most popular cruise stops in the Mediterranean, and for good reason: in just a few hours you can see the white town, the windmills, a beautiful beach and Little Venice at sunset. The key is planning, because your time is short and the ship will not wait.
Where do cruise ships dock in Mykonos?
Most cruise ships dock at the New Port at Tourlos, about 2 to 3 km from Mykonos Town. When the port is busy, some ships anchor offshore and bring passengers to the Old Port in town by tender boat. Your cruise line will tell you which applies on the day.
Getting into town
From the New Port, a sea bus and shuttle buses run to town, but queues can be long when several ships arrive together. Taxis are limited. A private transfer or chauffeur means you skip the queues and go straight to the places you want to see.
What to do with a few hours in Mykonos
Four hours: Mykonos Town, Little Venice, the Paraportiani church and the windmills, with time for a coffee or a drink by the sea.
Six hours: add a beach, such as Ornos, Psarou or Platis Gialos, or a lunch with a sea view.
A full day: add Ano Mera village and the north coast, or a short boat trip.
Do not miss the ship
Always plan to be back at the port at least an hour before all-aboard time, more if your ship uses tenders. A private driver who knows the island and the port keeps an eye on the time for you and gets you back with time to spare.
Tips for cruise passengers
- Bring cash and a card; small shops may not take cards.
- Wear comfortable shoes; the town's lanes are cobbled.
- Carry water and sun protection.
- Book your transfer before you arrive, as demand peaks on big cruise days.
- Keep your ship card and ID with you.
